Is there any work around for a problem that I am having consistently? When I
go to microsoft update it states that I need a updated driver for a piece of
hardware that is not in my computer. The first time it actually did this I
installed the recomended driver as I was not sure if I had the hardware or
not, It immediately conflicted with something on my computer, degraded my
video card back to a 4 bit display, and I kept getting an error message that
all available memory was in use.The hardware it says I have is a TRENDnet
TE100 - PCBUSR 32 - Bit Cardbus PC Card - I ran the everest utility and could
not find this item anywhere - I cant figure out why the microsoft site keeps
finding it. I actually tried to uninstall the driver and use system restore
to go back to an earlier working version but it was no soap - I ended up
having to re format my hard drive to get any where at all.

It is one of these:
http://www.trendnet.com/en/products/TE100-PCBUSR.htm

Do you recognise it?

Hi Robin had a look at your link thank you very much, I definetly do not
have this item in my computer.I only have two slots in use, one is a ati
radeon video card, the other is a realtek network card - both of these items
have the latest drivers according to their respective web sites installed.I
have tried removing these one at a time and together and using the onboard
video and having no network, but I still get this problem - just about at my
wits end ( I didn't have a lot to start with lol ) any help would be greatly
appreciated

Send your browser to the Windows Update web site.
Click the "Custom" button.
When presented with the list of available updates, find the offending one.
Ensure this update is unchecked for download/installation.
Then check the box that allows the update never to be seen again.

Hi,

same situation here on one of my desktop computer running WinXP SP2
fully up to date (no PCMCIA slot on it) and I'm also notified of this
"TRENDnet TE100 - PCBUSR 32 - Bit Cardbus PC Card" update by windows
update. I also have a realtek network (PCI) card so here is maybe the
reason of the windows update mistake ? Strange...

Regards.

I have just updated my Realtek PCI card drivers "RealTek RTL8139/810x
Family Fast Ethernet NIC" with the last drivers version available on
the RealTek site (version 641) available here for download :
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True

And now the "TRENDnet TE100 - PCBUSR 32 - Bit Cardbus PC Card" item has
deasapeard from windows update. So here was the issue.

The problem is sorted out here.
Hope this helps.

Regards.

Thank you lucasfrance! Installing the latest Realtek RTL8139 driver for my
on-board NIC elimated the false Windows Update notification too.
