I am running Windows Server 2003 and having problems with Windows
Update and Automatic Update.
Windows Update tells me KB887624 Sharepoint SP2 is a critical update
and needs to be installed. I have tried installing it a dozen times,
even with the anti-virus turned off and deleting the
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder contents in case the
download was corrupted. I tried downloading the standalone update but
it refuses to install saying all the files are already updated. I tried
telling Windows Update to not show me that update anymore but then it
makes sure I know a critical update is hidden every time I go there.
Meanwhile Automatic Update is set to tell me when critical updates are
available. It constantly tells me KB887981 Sharepoint Security Update
needs to be installed. Even though KB887981 is included in KB887624 and
should already be installed I have tried installing it several times
including disabling anti-virus but as soon as it says the installation
is complete the yellow shield pops up again to tell me it needs to be
installed. I have also tried installing using the standalone update but
it says all the files are already updated and refuses to install.
Any ideas?
