Windows Update Keeps Looping

Windows Server 2003, Service Pack 1

1. When I try to run Windows Update, it tells me that "Files required to
use Windows Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer."

2. I select "Register or reinstall the files for me now." The screen shows
"Downloading", "Installing" and "Registering". There are no error messages.

3. It takes me back to the Welcome screen, where I select the Express option.

4. The screen goes back to step 1 above.

How do I fix this?

Hi,

Some have posted that registering MSXML3.DLL fixed this problem.

Register MSXML3.DLL and see if it helps:

1. Click Start.

2. Choose Run.

3. In the Run box, type (or copy/paste from this post)

%windir%\system32\regsvr32.exe %windir%\system32\MSXML3.DLL

(note the space there in the middle)

4. Click OK.

Tried it, but I'm afraid that didn't work.
