windows update link missing from start menu

help accidently removed it how do i get it back it was at top of programs.

Right-click on the Taskbar and select:
Properties > Start Menu (tab) > Customize > Add.
Type in: wupdmgr.exe , and click Next.
In the next window, click on the Start Menu and click Next.
Type in: Windows Update and click on Finish.

i dont see anyplace to add when i click on start menu i have general and
advanced but dont see anyplace to add.

thanks that did it. daughter got virus and had to do system recovery, when
deleting all the junk installed accidently removed windows update instead of
windows catelog. all is working

I should have mentioned in my last post to consider Microsoft Update as a
replacement for Windows Update:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/msupd.htm
This will place a "Microsoft Update" link on the Start Menu.
