windows update log shows error 0x80070017 when install 2k sp489186

I wonder if anyone knows why it fails?

I'm trying to update windows by using automatic updates, but it failed. It
says

Failed to install Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (KB891861)

I checked windows update log, it says error 0x80070017 wasn encountered:

Torgeir:

I've downloaded the fix pack roll up and installed it. But when I restarted
windows, it produced the 'blue screen' with memory dump and I couldn't reboot
windows, saying that some memory usage doesn't match and I need to do some
hardware check or I need to uninstall the new fix pack.

So I started it in safe mode using the last good configuration.

So what went wrong with it?
