On my wireless laptop when I select the Express Install from the Windows
Update page I get the message Windows Update is looking for available
updates... but it never goes away. I have a DSL connection and on one of my
other machines on the network it only takes about 1 minute for it to find the
XP SP2 update that is required. Last week I tried to download the Windows XP
Service Pack 2 on my laptop but it failed. Could this be why its not working
now?? I looked in my windows update file and found this:

Hi,

I used to have nearly the problem, and I solved it using Suggestion #2 of
the message sent by kizzy below:

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...soft.com#link3

Everything works fine now

The only problem, is that you may have trouble deleting the folder, since
WinXP may claim that other programs are using it.
I solved it booting from linux, and erasing things from there, but probably
a "safe mode" boot (or a recovery console) would work too.

Give it a try if you can, and let us know if it works.

Good luck,

-zephyr
