Windows Update for .Net Framework 1.0 Service Pack 3 fails

Every other update from WU has installed perfectly and I have never, yet,
had a problem with it (I'm really hoping I'm not the exception!)--XP SP2,
..Net Framework 2.0 & all the other major ones. Anyone have a clue as to
what might be the issue to pursue here? I've been trying this for quite
some time now, without success.
