Attempting the latest Windows update and it never finishes. When it reaches
the stated size of the download, the next screen shows a slightly larger
download size and it keeps growing. We are using McAfee VirusScan Enterprise
8.0.0. This will block downloads and block any attempts to alter files but
these devices have been disabled. Any help is appreciated

I've got the same problem.

The auto updater keeps downloading. Up to 40 Mb, then I killed the job.

Deleting the contens of the dowload directory didn't help either.

It started on the 15th when the new updates came available.

Help is much appriciated.

Hi,

Could you please let me know how the VirusScan software
is set up, is it set to default or does it have custom
settings?

It appears what is happening is that we are getting false
positives on certain bit ranges of the files being
downloaded. Then the AV is either deleting these ranges
or is moving them to a protecfted folder. In both cases,
the ranges will be redownloaded again and again.

The only way that we know of so far to stop this is to
change the setting in the AV software to not scan files
from *.download.windowsupdate.com.

Thank you

Eric

Hi Jelle,

Are you running any AntiVirus software?

If so what brand and version?
What are the settings set too?

Thank you

Eric
