Windows Update are no longer registered or installed??

The last update I was able to install was the June 15th updates.

For some reason after trying to update I keep getting this same error even
after using - "Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended)"

After I re-register and try to update again I keep getting -

"Files required to use Windows Update are no longer registered or installed
on your computer. To continue:"

It's an endless loop, I'm virus free. So why is this happening?

If it's files missing how do I know which ones and were to find them?
I'm stuck here and don't know what to do. Please advise.

I'm running XP service pack 2

Open a command prompt window and type the command:

regsvr32 msxml3.dll

Then try again.

Thanks for you help Robin, it did nt work at first.
I rebooted and tried again - back to normal updating.
