Windows update is not checking updates properly!

Hallo all,

I have restored my system from an old backup dated 1 month ago. after that I
went to "windows update" to recover all missed updates since my last backup,
but "windows update" informs me that there is no updates for your sytem,
based on the history of my updates!! so in reality I have only the updates
accompanied with my backup which is 1 month old.

how can install the missed updates, which "windows updates" think that I
have them?

Windows version? Is Automatic Updates enabled? Exact error message?

I have found that if you do a system restore, what you describe is true. You
probably have all the updates. Test it by looking in the add/remove programs
(make sure to enable to show updates) then manually search for one of the
latest updates (pick a date after your restore date) and you will probably
see that when the update is applied you will be told it cant be installed
because it is already installed.

I have complained about this situation a long time ago.

To check if we are able to install all necessary updates, let us visit the
Windows Update website again and perform a Custom Install.

Visit the Windows Update site

Open Internet Explorer, and click Tools-> Windows Update to install Windows
Update. Please choose Custom to scan the system.

If the site doesn't list any updates to install, it means the current system
is secure with all necessary updates installed and no troubleshooting is
needed.

I think that this is a mess from microsoft!

in the control panel, it shows me that the last update was in the time of
backup, in addition to the new updates performed after restore!!!!

I dont understand on what windows update is based? on a real machine check
or just based on the updates history for a specific windows licence?
