Windows Update not installed

I received notification of the latest updates(malicious software tool and a
security update). The malicious software tool installed but the security
update failed. Of course, that f___ing Update Icon is now stuck in my tray
with no apparent way to get rid of it. So much for Microsofts supposed fixes.
I don't really care about the security update but I'd like to know how to
get it installed or how to remove the icon from the tray.

sounds like you have issues. What antivirus are you using and what
type of firewall?
