I have an optional Update for Realtek - Network - Realtek PCIe FE Family
Controller. I've tried updating it through the Windows Update program on my
Windows Vista Home Premium x64 Bit OS. It has not worked. I have gone to
realtek's website and installed the update from their website directly and
installed without a problem. I tried uninstalling the update and
reinstalling it. But this optional update in Windows Update. How can I get
rid of this update w/o hiding it and will not notify my of this update in the
future?

Thank you in advance!!!!!!!

Steve

You can't, just hide it and forget it. It's not worth the worry.

Believe that Windows update is correctly updating your driver, but somehow is
not recognizing that the appropriate driver has been updated, so it always
appears as an optional update, but fails when selected. Hide it and forget
it.

Realtek - Network - Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
Installation date: ?8/?12/?2009 11:07 AM
Installation status: Successful
Update type: Optional
DriverUpdate: Realtek Network software update released in May, 2009
More information:
http://winqual.microsoft.com/support/?driverid=20273886
Help and Support:
http://support.microsoft.com/select/?target=hub

After re-running windows update, shows an optional update which, if
executed, gives the following.

Realtek - Network - Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
Installation date: ?8/?12/?2009 11:12 AM
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 80070103
Update type: Optional
DriverUpdate: Realtek Network software update released in May, 2009
