Hi,

I have been having real difficulty of late with my Windows Update, i usually
visit the site and update manually, eventhough i have enabled automatic
updates everyday, but i am sure it is not working.

So i tried to do a manual update, and i get the following problem (whether
or not i do Express or Custom).

All that happens is i get the "Checking for the latest updates for your
computer..." screen with the grean loading bar, and it freezes on this screen
with the loading bar still scrolling. And i cannot do anything, i have even
left this on for a couple of hours and it is still in the same state on a 2mb
connection.

I regulary check for spyware (with a couple of different programs), of
which if any are found i promtly delete, i have no viruses.

I am running XP Home updated to SP2.

I would really appreciate any of your help, as this is getting concerning
now, as it has been like this for months.

Thanks,

Shin.

I'm having the same problem although I have not had a problem in the past.
Any help for Shin and I?

The problem is that our friends at Microsoft have not figured out this apparent
glitch. I have spent numerous days on the phone with Microsoft Support
technicians and they have sent me various fixes and downloads, none of them
have worked.
In the end the final decision is to restore my computer to it's original
state. That's easy for them to say. How many weeks is it going to take me to
get my system where it was ?
This all started when I upgraded to SP2. I guess someone writing code in
Seattle is providing job security for the Microsoft Technicians, who, by the
way are the best in the business. But that's another post at another time.
All I have now is nightmares of the scrolling green bar that never ever
stops.
