I have checked my WIndows UPDATE and registered all the appropriate .DLL
files using Regserv32. When I go to services.msc Windows update displays as
Disabled. I have disabled and then re-enabled the hardware Profile and
attempted to set WIndows Update to Automatic...when I click Start, I received
the 1058 error stating that the service could not start and it has no enabled
devices.
I've read 100 web pages related to this issue and tried everything...can
anyone help.
I'm running WIndows 2000 with SP4, McAffee and Ad-Aware.

Well what else can we tell you if you've already researched this on 100
websites.

Obviously some of hte websites would have indicated to you that this most
likely is caused by virus activity.

There has been quite a bit on this already.

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software

Try Dial-a-Fix
http://wiki.lunarsoft.net/wiki/Dial-a-fix

Works for me every time I have an update problem.

Hi,

in another thread I took up a similar problem with
Windows Update.

After some time I found that this error was caused
by spyware. My normal virsus scan could not detect it.
After using another spyware removal tool
(found in another forumabout a simialr problem)
the error disappeared.

Maybe you have a similar problem.

Can you provide me with the name of the produst? I have downloaded several
other products including Spyhunter but can't locate the problem.
I have also used process explorer and note 3 .dll files that have strange
names and do not have a publisher...however even in safe mode with command
prompt I can't stop them.
