Windows Update not working after SP2 install

I installed SP2 on XP Prof. systems, and since windows update is not installing
the updates that I have been notified of from Microsoft.

No error messgae, "Installing Updates" window just sits there saying
"Initialization i in progress".

Error 0x80240016 is

SUS_E_INSTALL_NOT_ALLOWED
try to install while another install is going on
or reboot is pending


If you have rebooted, and that is not the issue, I suggest you rename
(or just delete) the SoftwareDistribution folder and see if it helps.

You can use the procedure described here:

Note that a side effect of renaming or deleting the SoftwareDistribution
folder is that you lose your WU v5 History listing (not critical).

(later on, you can just delete the renamed SoftwareDistribution
folder)
