First of all, i cannot access it from going to it from Start menu. It just
doesn't do anything.

Secondly, when i go to the site, by opening up IE and typing
v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com and it starts to search the newest version of
windowsupdate or whatever, it just stays there, forever. (i waited 8 hours
and nothing happened)

Also, it seems that somehow, 2nd mouse button is disabled in IE, or it
doesn't always work in it.

... And now you're like "ok, it's the viruses and hackers and whatever"..

Well, let me tell you this: I installed Windows 2000 from the CD, and then
installed firewall software (Sygate Personal Firewall) and Anti-Virus
software (AntiVir) and then plugged the network cable in and started to try
to update.

How in hell can i fix this god ***m thing?

So.. I have mapped the problem.

The thing is, that i disabled RPC services to prevent certain viruses and
worms using my computer to do bad things.

Anyhow, now that i try to start those again, it won't. I would set those to
automatic, but it won't let me - when i press properties, it doesn't give out
a properties page (talking about the computer management -> services).. Yet
still.. When you try to close computer management, it says it can't because
there are open property pages. Well, there isn't. At least none that i could
see - they aren't showing in the Process list either.

Is there a way i could fix this?

E.g. by editing the registry or something?

i'm having the same problem as v1ru5. I also went to internet properties and
then to security and I do not find a "stealth mode browsing". Am I looking in
the wrong place. I checked for both intranet and internet. they are both set
at medium low. nothing is disabled.
I know it is a specific computer problem because my desktop upgrades are
working fine. This laptop did at one time but not any longer.
Please help.

I have pretty much the dame problem. It all started with a Norton Error
Message , and went down hill fast from there. Or maybe it started when I got
the XP2 update, and didn't in stall it. Anyway, now I'm just rtying to get
to Windows Update.
P.S. My hard drive sounds like it is in a loop, and everything is slower
than a '53 Chevy 6 cylinder.
