Windows update not working because of CryptSvc service

In my Windows Vista home premium most of the updates fail (even Service Pack1
doesn't install). I searched over the net and one suggestion was to start
CryptSvc. In my machine it is already started but for the service it says
"Failure to read description", it looks like something is wrong with
CryptSvc.dll.mui file. I am not sure what is happening. Can anyone please
help me with this.

Microsoft Product Support Services at 1-866-PCSAFETY. There is no-charge for
support calls that are associated with security updates or using Automatic
Updates. When you call, clearly state what your problem is. Note any error
codes. As you're using Vista, make sure you tell them what you see in Event
Viewer.

In other countries, see http://support.microsoft.com/security

right-hand menu for localized contact information.

Thanks for the reply. I tried calling them and apparently I will have to call
someone else again on a weekday (after talking for around 2 hours). Does
anyone know about the error code 15100 with CryptSvc (Failed to read
description)
