From yesterday my Windows Update is offline and even though my settings are
on Automatic for the windows update it still is not working. I'm not getting
any error messages, the only thing my PC tells me is that my Windows Update
is turned off but my settings have it on Automatic. My operating system is
Windows XP with SP2. I read some of the posts here and got this program
called "Dial-a-fix-v0.60.0.24" and it does fix the problem but only
temporarly, when the computer is restarted the problem still appears. Is
there any permanent solution to this?

Can anyone please help me out?

Judging from similar posts here in the past month or so, the behavior may be
due to a Vundo-ZLOB-SDBot infection, all of which is protected by a rootkit.

Run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
