I am running SP1 and have not installed SP2. I did let Windows Update me to
version 5 of update manager. Not sure if this is the correct name, but it
is version 5. Since then I no longer can see any Critical Updates. The
only update that is available to me is the SP2 patch. Without installing
SP2 is there anyway I can again gain access to Critical Updates?

Greatly appreciate and help given.

Ken A.

Install SP2, that is the Critical update. Once it is
installed there are a couple of patches for it.

Jim I am not ready to install SP2 yet. I realize that I will have to do so
eventually. Until then how may I resume getting Critical Updates for SP1?

Thank you,
Ken A.

Hi

Please try this:

Clean out the Download folder (WU5's temporary download folder)
located here:

%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\

(%windir% is typically C:\Windows)

You can use the procedure described here:

http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...cleid=11&ln=en

You might need to delete the DataStore folder mentioned in the link
above, as well as the EventCache folder.

Note that a side effect of deleting the DataStore folder is that you
lose your WU v5 History listing (not critical).

I am in the same position as you. When do you think it is wise to install SP2?

Regards,

Martha

Why would you think it is UNWISE to install SP2? I personally see absolutely
nothing wrong with the SP2 upgrade. I have it installed and working just
fine on 4 computers so far.
