Help please. I cannot load the Windoes update page. Whenever I try to
update windows, the page won't load. This is what the page says: "Windows
Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page". Does
anybody have any suggestions as to what is causing this problem?

Thank You,
Mike C.

Hi

Please try the following:

Click Start >> Run >>
Type the follow command in the Open box.
"net.exe stop wuauserv" (w/o quotes)
Press Ok

Repeat the same for the following commands:

regsvr32.exe wuapi.dll
regsvr32.exe wups.dll
regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
regsvr32.exe wucltui.dll
regsvr32.exe msxml3.dll
net.exe start wuauserv

Restart the machine and try WU site again.

Torgeir Bakken,

I tried to do what you said but after I typed the second line (regsvr32.exe
wuapi.dll), I got a message saying "LoadLibrary("wuapi.dll") failed - The
specified module could not be found." Any suggestions as to what this means?
Thank you for your attempt to help me.

Hi

You are using the Windows Update v5 Web site I assume?

You might want to try what Wayne Morgan did and see if it helps:

Ok, I got it working. I went to the %windir%\system32 folder and move the
wu*.dll and wu*.exe files to a temporary folder. I coudn't delete them at
this point because some of them were in use. I then went to Windows Update
and it downloaded the WU Install. After a reboot, WU was working and I was
able to delete the files in the temporary folder.
