TP,
The system can access the site and gets to the installation stage ?
0x80072EFE
ERROR_INTERNET_CONNECTION_ABORTED - The connection with the server has
been terminated.
Did this issue occur previously or just recently ? Suggest you clear
your User account's Temp folder by going to Start, Run, and typing in
%temp%
Click OK.
Delete all contents of this folder. Close the windows.
Now go to Internet Options in the Control Panel.
Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
Put a check mark next to " Delete all offline content " .
Click OK.
Try Windows Update.
If no joy, show hidden files, folders, and system files :
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html
Navigate to
C:\WINDOWS\Software Distribution\Download
Delete all contents of that folder.
Try Windows Update once more.
Did that resolve the issue ? Is there a proxy server being used
inadvertently ?
Open Internet Options again, click the Connections tab.
Click the LAN Settings button.
Uncheck the box next to " Use a proxy server ... "
Click OK. Click OK once more.
Try WU again.
