| I have about 80 computers running on some Satelite dishes. The dishes have a
| Daily download limit and works in Busts for speed and bandwidth.... What I
| need to do is be able to BLOCK the automatic updates from downloading in the
| backgroud. If their is a port I can block then I would be able to let so many
| IP's update at a time and this would fix all the problems. If anyone at all
| knows how to block the windows updates, my life would be better. Please
| please please let me know if you can. Thanks

I guess you mean "Hughes Network Systems GmbH" ;-)
What you might want to do is stup a SUS server and have the nodes point to the SUS seerver
and not the MS Windows Update web site. This one one PC gathers the updates across the WAN
and all the LAN nodes get their updates from that system. You might also want to look at a
Proxy server. This way all Internet activity has to go through the Proxy Server and and
thus common data will be obtained by the Proxy cache and reduce the amount of traffice going
throught the limited and bursty WAN connection.
