Running Win XP Home SP2 with all current patches installed. But can't use the
updater now. Userdata persistance is set to ON but no dice.

There are three solutions listed in the knowledge base:

1) Doesn't mean anything here because there is no Adminstration Tools folder
off the Programs folder

2) Running this produces a SUCCESS message, but doesn't fix the problem

3) Doesn't mean anything either as there is no Local Users and Groups
section under Computer Management.

There is only one user profile on this PC I believe... if you choose "log
off", you can only select one profile to log back in as. But that is in
addition to adminstrator if you look under C:\Documents and Settings.

Doing Permission (right click ) on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT in regedit shows no
Deny boxes ticked.

So frankly... I'm baffled!

Seems I might have figured it out. I needed to turn BITS on properly (started
and set to auto), AND have my firewall off whilst downloading and installed
the update that was there.

Any thoughts about trying to config Kerio to stop this problem in the future?
