Hello, Sirs

I am located in Taiwan. I had met the problem for windows undate (error
646). I already tried many different way. But I still can not solve this
problem. So I think the problem that is from Microsoft. I expect Microsoft
can solve this problem as soon as possible.

Correct in some cases, incorrect in others, I am sure. Might want to just
leave off assumptions. ;-)

Wouldn't hold your breath. Although I do see other reports of this error in
these newsgroups - much like yours - the details are usually left out/never
provided. Just general, "I received this error, tried some stuff, nothing
has worked - when are you going to fix it?" statements posted to these
peer-to-peer (not a Microsoft sounding board - this are volunteers and
people just like you) newsgroups.

You might include some details *other* than who you are, where you are from
and the error in question.

- What operating system are you having the issue with?
- What service pack level is the operating system you are having the issue
with?
- Is the system you are having the issue with 32-bit or 64-bit?
- What are the specific updates that are failing to install/giving you the
errors (KB######)?
- What AntiVirus software are you running on the system you are having this
issue with?
- What firewall are you using on the system you are having this issue with?
- Is there any further text around the error message?
- What have you tried to fix this issue on your own?
- Tried resetting your update components?
- Scanned with third-party antimalware applications?
- Temporarily disabled your firewall and/or antivirus while updating?

Please - provide some of this information or will you just be another one
throwing up an error with no other specifics and assigning the blame
arbitrarily although many others do not have the issue you have (even if
some do - if no one gives specifics - how can anyone be sure their issue is
the same as anyone elses?)

hello amon,
i had the same error 646 when i installed update and solved it right away.
go to microsoft website and type the error code to bing search, it will show
you all the 97 error code and you have to download and check and agree to the
license agreement of all 5 97.... errors. download it one by one and after
you finished that, go to windows update and try installing it again. if you
got the same error code, email me at and i will do it
for you remotely. ok

Bad idea allowing someone to remote to your computer you do not know.

Explain your problem (in detail) in a new post. ;-)

Hi guys finally I found a solution for this error 646 ,just disconnect the network after downloading while the windows is installing if didn’t work just restart the computer and don’t connect to the internet ,go back to the windows update and press install ,because they will be already downloaded ,and it will work (vista SP2)
