Windows Update problem with no error code

I recently installed SP3 on Windows XP home and now anytime I try to install
updates it says that a problem with my computer prevented the installation of
the updates. No error code or anything. If anybody can help it would be
appreciated.

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP
installation or you repair a Windows XP installation

NB: Ignore the titles, if necessary; also applies to Upgrade installs, and
Recovery installs.
