I had this problem with an EPson CX3200. Took me a while, but I found from
there tech support, the following:-
To check if the file which allows Windows XP to recognize and connect to
any make of USB printer are present in your system, do the following:
1. Go to START and SEARCH for ALL FILES AND FOLDERS where all or part of
the the file name is USBPRINT
2. For "Look in" ensure your hard drive (C:/) is selected
3. Under "More advanced options" ensure the first three out of five check
boxes are marked.
A number of files named "USBPRINT" may be found in different locations.
The files and locations which should be present in your system are:
USBPRINT.SYS - should have a copy in C:/Windows/System32/Drivers.
USBPRINT.INF - should have a copy in C:/Windows/INF
If one or both of these files are missing, an operating system issue is
present. You are missing key operating system files and should consult your
computer vendor or Microsoft for assistance, particularily if you are able
to connect the device to another computer and print from there. We cannot
provide these system files to you as they are part of Windows itself.
Try looking for these files.
