Windows Update Program Not Working Anywhere

I'm logging locally into several computers in an office area as administrator
(XP, XP w/SP1, XP w/SP2). When using windows update (I'm eventually trying
to get everyone to SP2), I get the error message that you don't have
sufficient privileges to do this! This produces the same error when trying
to either update an existing XP SP1 with the latest files or convert the
system to SP2 (even with an official MS logo install/update disk). Depending
on how I try to update (via web, or clicking on the security update icon in
the taskbar), I get the error code 0x8007F004 which indicates again I don't
have the correct administrative level to complete the job.

The server we're running is a Windows 2000 server with Active Directory
enabled. However, the installation of Active Directory probably needs to be
reinstalled since it is having RPC issues with clients trying to gain the
proper permissions via their ACL and further investigation reveals multiple
levels of issues on the server. Everything else works correctly (file/print
services, logins, etc). However, changing user access priveleges produces no
changes for people on their client computers.

That is why I went to logging in locally to hopefully bypass this same
behavior with the server even though the account I was logged into had
administrative rights too.

I even tried rebooting the PC disconnecting the network cable with the
update CD.

Anyone have any ideas as to what to try next?

Hi Sam,

This newsgroup is for "setup" issues with Microsoft Visual FoxPro. You'll
have much better luck in a Windows newsgroup.
