I went to the windows update page, it checked for updates I needed, but when
I clicked the install button the download window came up but nothing
happened. Everything froze up and I had to shut down the site with the task
manager. When I tried to go back into the update site, it wouldn't go and
hung up again. So I turned on automatic updates. When I checked my update
history it showed all of the updates failed with error 0x80246005. I am
running windows 2000, but everything I've read on this seems to be from
people running XP. My windows update log allso shows error 0x80200010 and
error 0x80072f78. It showed error 0x80072ee2, but I think I fixed that one.
Maybe. I've been working on this for about 3 days now. Please help. Thanks.

You're only seeing XP talk because, well, like it says, this is an XP group.
You really should try the win2k group!
microsoft.public.win2000.windows_update

There are lots of other ones, too; a counterpart for about every group you
see here and then some!

Thanks for the info, but at the top of the window where the question is it
says In: microsoft.public.windowsupdate. It doesn't show a particular
operating system. I may be overlooking it, but I haven't seen anything that
says this is an XP group. How do you tell the difference?
