Windows Update Prompts for Validation

When I run windows update I get an messege that pops up prompting me that
windows needs to be validated. When it takes me to the validation site it
fails. Any suggestions that may work? Fixes/patches?

I have been reading about taking WGA out of my current windows vista
package, but I believe that that isn't the correct solution to the problem.
