Windows Update Reappearance

I tried to update my Windows XP SP2, and I had a problem.

No critical updates were available, so I clicked on the "windows XP" link,
which showed there were 7 updates to download. By my surprise, another
windows update started again, from the beginning, in the frame where it is
supposed to show me what I had to download from that category.

Anyone who can shine a light on the matter?

TIA,

"Initialization error"? What does that have to do with this problem?
