Windows Update Redundancy

I am currently running Windows XP Home Edition and Microsoft Office 2003
Professional. I keep running into problems regarding the Windows Update. No
matter whether I install the updates, or choose to exclude them, they keep
reappearing. The updates are for Office, one is an office update, and the
other is Office 2003 Service Pack 2. I'm wondering if there is any way I can
know for sure that the update was installed properly, or if there is any
possible way I can really exclude these updates from future scans, because
they keep popping up. Thanks

Have you tried manually downloading the offline installers and installing
them? Particularly for Service Pack 2 for Office 2003?
