Windows Update repeated installation every day!

I'm running Win2000 SP4 on my office machine and recently rebuilt it. After
installing a bunch of the updates, I find that a handful of them (mainly
related to cumulative IE6 SP1 service packs) repeatedly show up in the system
tray as having been downloaded and being ready to install.

Each installation is successful but I'm still prompted at every boot that
they're ready for installation. What is causing this and how do I get WU to
recognize that the updating is all done??

Windows Update says the update is still needed

Thanks for the link, but unfortunately it was not helpful. I downloaded the 3
updates (832894, 824145, 828750) and they think that I do not already have
IE6 SP1 installed on the system. If I access Help/About in IE, I see SP1 in
the version information.

Any other ideas would be appreciated (short of rebuilding the system again).

Gotta love this stuff.
