Explorer updates. First, let me say something
profound ... Microsoft's detection mechanism for
determining which updates you need, is what's at fault
combined with so many re-releases of patches for same
flaws. What is most important to you is whether you have
teh patch installed right? You can run MS's MBSA or
Shavlik's HfNetChkPro to perform a full system scan, and
follow their recommendations OR you can look up each
identified patch and read the instructions for determining
if the patch has been applied (i.e. usually a combination
of file dates and version numbers). This is gotten out of
control :-)) There was a time you could simply check
which patches you wanted, now you need to "manually"
determine if you have the patch even installed!
There are better ways to managing patches though (as I
mentioned above). Windows update (web site) just doesn't
cut it anymore.
