Hi. I've been trying to check for updates to XP; already have SP2, but
haven't updated for months. ActiveX seems to work fine, but when I hit the
"Express" or "Custom" system-scan buttons it searches for a while and then
gives me an error message: "The website has encountered a problem and cannot
display the page you are trying to view." Tried the self-help options listed
(changes to IE connection and security settings) but no improvement. Tried
"Microsoft Online Assisted Support" and was able to fill out a help request,
but submission didn't work - got standard dead-link error message. Any
advice would be great. Thanks.

Oh yea...aint we havin fun...been there done that...
OK...here's the work around to get all your Critical Security updates From
Winblows...(sorry, couldn't help myself...LOL)
I found this on a previous post that worked miracals for me...it's called
Belarc Advisor. Just Google it. (free and no spyware, or other BAD stuff)
1. Down load this program, Install it, then run it, and it will tell you
what crucial updates are missing in Windows...
2. Next, Click on the links it provides next to the updates that are missing
and you'll go directly to Microsoft Downloads...to of course download the
update thats needed.
That's it...Once you've downloaded and installed all the updates, run the
program again to check...once it says that you are up to date (based on
Windows Security reports, ect)
Hope that helps...It sure did me!!!!
