Windows Update searches for updates...

Windows Update searches for updates really fast and then says there are no
critical updates. I know I have not doanloaded and installed all of these
updates. I checked the registry and the version number is what it is
supposed to be. Can anyone tell me what the cause and fix would be for
this??????

The operating system I use on my computer is Windows 98 Second Edition.
