That exception code means "Please wait while setup integrates files from Windows Service Pack into your Windows installation folder.".
Be very clear that you are referring to Windows XP Service Pack 2. It appears that you are trying to download it from the W U website.
IF you are getting the "full network" file, please be clear and state that.
Be sure your firewall is on, but insure the Antivirus program is off (until after XP SP2 is all setup completely).
Close your I.E. browser. Run Disk Cleanup to delete temporary internet files, plus temp files.
Do the following cleanup steps:
If your Windows is at folder \Windows , modify the following folder as appropriate:
From main Windows Start menu, select RUN, type in
CMD <Enter-key>
type in
net stop wuauserv <Enter-key>
Go to Windows Explorer.
Look at this folder
C:\WINNT\SoftwareDistribution\Download
If you find files in there, delete them. That folder is where your system places (temporarily) files from W U downloads.
Go back to Command prompt window.
type in
net start wuauserv <Enter-key>
EXIT <Enter-key>
My strong suggestion to you is to disable all startup apps & your antivirus before starting the setup of Service Pack 2 (or any future service pack.) .
Do a liitle reading before getting SP2. See tips at Aumha.org on preparing for SP2.
Look at the Pre-Installation Recommendations
