Windows Update software 6.0.5600.16385 causing BIG issues

Had my Fujitsu pc set to auto update and Windows Update, it downloaded the
following this morning local time

"Windows Update software 6.0.5600.16385

Installation date: 25/09/2006 23:16

Installation status: Successful

Update type: Important"

Since this update my pc was unable to boot past my logon screen as it
rendered my usb keyboard and mouse unusbale. I wasnt even able to boot into
safe mode due to the keyboard not working after the bios screen. The only
thing ive been able to do is use the "Logmein" software ive got installed to
remote access the pc, get into System Restore and roll back to yesterday.

As a precaution ive stopped auto updates for now but dont really want to do
that as a total fix, any ideas aside from swopping usb sockets and using a
ps2 keyboard because ive done that with no effect to the issue

I just opened up an Internet Explorer Web Page and went to Windows
Update and ran it. There were no Updates that were released on Sept. 25.

Run a complete Anti-Virus Scan and see what happens and what it reports.
Might wish to run your Anti-spyware scan also, when done.

Steve, this is a Windows Vista update. Are you running Windows Vista? If so
you should report this in the Vista specific newsgroups.
