Hello,
On the 21st I downloaded a new update .. the update was Windows Update
Software 7.0.6000.374. After this update I have been having a lot of
problems.
Just to name a few problems

-Host Process fails
-Search protocol fails
-Slow start-up
-Very slow performance, programs may take forever to start
-Windows media player seems to play no movies that I have, just freezes up
-Internet very slow, when I try to connect sometimes it doesn't find a
network and I would need to restart.

I never experienced any problems before this and my laptop was running
perfectly fine until Thursday when the new update came out. Anyone else
experience these sort of problems?

I am running Windows Vista Business. Any help?

Hopefully, it did a restore point before doing the update. You should go
back to the restore point prior to the update. Then you should call MS, if
you have a retail version of Vista, since you have 180 days of free support
from MS after the activation.

Mr. Arnold can you give me some directions on going back to a restore point?
Plus I am unable to call MS because I am away at school in Europe. I will
have to do that when I get back to the US or try sending them an email.
Thanks for your help

Do the problems you listed occur when you set Windows Update to "Never check
for updates"? I wonder, because when that's set, no component of WU/AU is
even in memory, so it would seem impossible for it then to cause any
problems whatsoever. It might be a good workaround, since as you know, WU
7.0 is a mandatory upgrade just to use WU.

No other updates were involved, right?

Thanks for the reply,
Just to let you guys know what's going on. I restored my system and had to
download one update which was for WIndows Defender, everything seemed fine
but now the problem still persists. The computer is very very slow, When I
try to run AVG or Adware it seems to get stuck. Adware gets stuck during Deep
scan of registry and AVG seems to never end and is scanning files in
C:ProgramFiles/Java for at least 20 minutes which I dont understand why. How
does my laptop go from being problem free to the next day having these
problems I still can't understand
