WINDOWS UPDATE SOFTWARE ISSUE

Still having WU problems. When I went to the site, it asked me to download
the newest version (5) of the WU software. (picture here
-http://photopeg.com/peg/pic.php?u=4069pPBI&i=7134 ) Still having WU
problems. When I went to the site, it asked me to download the newest version
(5) of the WU software. (picture below) So I did. Closed IE, came back to WU,
and it just hangs at "Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update
Software..." For hours, it can stay there, not frozen, just hanging. I can
still get to Windows Update v4, by going to "Administrator Options" "Windows
Update Catalog" and then to the "Windows Update" link on the left. I don't
know if this will give me the same updates as v5? But I really want to fix my
first problem with version 5, so I can keep my comp up to date...I have no
ZoneAlarm/Popup blocker running, and I disable Norton when I do this...Thanks

I also tried downloading that "iuctl.cab" and installed "iuctl.inf", and I
went to the WU site, it said "Downloading 100%..." for the software, and then
hanged at "Registering 100%..." PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks...

Just check in System32\WindowsUpdate.log whether you get an error like:
CreateOnject: Failed to regiter Microsoft.AutoUpdate.Update and SysInfo.

If yes then try this:

It appears the wupai.dll is not getting registered. You can do this manually
by typing the following command in Start->Run

REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuapi.dll

Just go to the Windows Update site again after doing this and it should work
fine.

Hi all,

This is the solution for all those who experience "hanging/frozen" IEs after
installing the new BITS. SPREAD THE WORD, WE HAVE A SOLUTION ;-)

i need serious help, my pc crashed. put it in recovery mode and now my
windows update wont load at all. my pc keeps booting me off windows
completely because my pc isnt up to date. HELP !!!!!!
