Windows Update Stalls at 10%

I recently wiped my computer and when I was finished re-installing windows, I
used Windows Update to receive all my patches. When I brought my computer to
university, my updates haven't been able to take place. I have the proxy
settings configured in Internet Explorer, so I have the internet. Shouldn't
the Windows Update function inheret the settings? If they do, then I can't
work out why I can't update. Even if I go to the site, the updates fail. My
antivirus can connect for updates. Any clues anyone?

I am also having this problem ... collern2 please indicate your progress at
fixing this problem ... I have noticed that my dial up connection allows the
download, but like you I cannot download at University.

Any advice appreciated.
