Windows Update Standalone Installer Error

While attempting to install updates for the 32-bit Vista Ultimate product I
started getting the following error:

Windows Update Standalone Installer
Installer encountered an error: 0x80070422
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it
has not enables devices associated with it.

So, what is this "Windows Update Standalone Installer" and how can it be
enabled?

After some more research I found the fix for this error in Microsoft Technet.

Go to http://technet.microsoft.com

Search for: Article ID: 958043

Or, just go to: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958043

It appears that this error can happen in all Windows Starting with Windows
2000.

The Repair.bat described in the article worked great.
