When I go to Windows Update, checking for the latest version of windows
update software appears, it is fine. It moves to Windows update is looking
for available updates - I see download and install now (SP2) or review and
install other updates. I click on install SP2, the EULA comes up, I accept.
The next screen shows The updates are being downloaded and installed,
however, Where it says Installation Status - Nothing appears. Where it says
Preparing for Download - Nothing appears and Windows Update stops responding.

Before I logged on, I went into my View Installation History- I found 2
different error codes

80200001 in Automatic Updates

and 80200010 in Windows Update Website

Can anyone Help? I've been trying to solve this by reading other posts, but
can't

Thanks

Your error numbers are:

0x80200001
BG_E_Not_Found The requested job was not found.

0x80200010
BG_E_NETWORK_DISCONNECTED There are currently no active network connections.
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) will try again when an adapter
is connected.

(Network card not enabled or firewall problem)

You could have other error numbers for sp2's failures in these files:
Setupapi.log
Svcpack.log

Jim,

Found the setupapi.log but couldn't find svcpack.log in search results

What should I be looking for in this file?

look for error numbers ex. 0x800#### , the word fail etc.
the error numbers ( if available) will simplify the search for your problem
otherwise you have to do it by trail and error method.
it could be an error with access denied, it would then show up has an error
number
