Windows update trough Netscreen firewall

WHY is microsoft using port 80/443? This causes a lot of trouble in the
firewalls.

I tried two things to get it working
- add the microsoft update domains to an access list.
- add the microsoft update IP-adresses to an access list.
But either way there are still coming new IP-adressen, so one time automatic
update works, the next time it doesn't.

I can setup proxy.cfg but I don't have a machine to setup a proxy server, so
isn't there a proxy adress from microsft, so microsoft updates can be
accessed by 1 ip adres?

I think there are security reasons. If a virus would flood this only proxy
IP then nobody could access updates anymore.
