Hi Folks,

Just wanted to let you know and invite you all to participate in a chat on
the newly released version of the Windows Update Site, v5. We'll have
members from the product team on hand to answer questions and discuss this
new site. The chat will be on Friday, September 10th, from 10:00 to
11:00am (pacific time). For more information on how to join see:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/com...s/default.mspx . Look
forward to "chatting" with you all then and in the meantime please feel free
to post any topics or particular areas of interest you'd like to discuss.

-thanks,

Eric

Since the newly released Windows Update Site V5 was installed on my machine I
have been unable to recieve updates. At first the green bar would keep
moving saying checking for update and nothing would happen- fixed that
problem and started getting error 800A01AE- now after clicking on check for
updates the screen just freezes(need to control alt delete- to close out IE)
and does not give an error. Running Windows XP. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

PS. Had no problems with update version 4?

Well, the problem on my machine is; whenever I use update v5, the green bar
just keeps going and going and going and.... never goes any further.

Hi Kurt,

Please delete the Interent cache to see if this will resolve the issue.

Thank you

We are having a problem with several thousand XP Pro
computers granted to libraries that are not getting any
updates showing at all.

The symptoms are that once to the Windows Update site you
get the first and second Windows Update software
downloads. Then whether you click Express or Custom
Install, no updates at all are found. This even on a
newly restored SP1 installation from at least 18 months
ago.

If you install SP2 manually, it seems to go fine, but
then there are still no updates after that, and the
concern is that it will never find any future updates.

Hi

Unless .Net Framework is installed on the SP2 computer, no critical
updates is relevant for SP2 so far.

Hello Eric,

All files are present, allready registered all the files you've mentioned,
now I've cleaned out the cache.
As a result, the green scrolling bar doesn't even appear anymore....
Any other suggestions?

grtz
