Windows update v5 faulure - 0x800401f3

I've updated a number of PC's without any problems. However on one PC the
update got "stuck" at "Register 100%", (downloan and file copy completed OK)

In windows update log I now get the error message

CreateObject for Microsoft.Update.AutoUpdate failed: error 0x800401f3
CreateObjrct for Microsofy.Update.SystemInfo failed: error 0x800401f3

Whenever I try to run v5 windows update. v5 windows update the "freezes"
once failure messages logged.

Any ideas????

This might be another case where re-registering the XML .dlls
or reinstalling the XML service pack could help.
(Search other discussions for details about that in posts by MVPs
or MSFT personnel.)

Otherwise look for the context of this error code in the logs.
E.g. search your harddrive for files which contain 800401F3
and then assuming they are readable sequential files extract
the relevant context of the error and any other errors which led up
to it being reported.
