windows update v5 freezing

can anyone help me? whenever i go to windows update and try to scan express
or custom install to see whats available for update...it freezes..pls help....

Hi

Please try the following:

Click Start >> Run >>
Type the follow command in the Open box.
"regsvr32 wuapi.dll" (w/o quotes)
Press Ok
Type "regsvr32 wups.dll" (w/o quotes)
Press Ok
Type "regsvr32 wuaueng.dll" (w/o quotes)
Press Ok
Type "regsvr32 wucltui.dll" (w/o quotes)
Press Ok
Type "regsvr32 msxml3.dll" (w/o quotes)
Press Ok


Restart the machine and try WU site again.

the same thing is happening to me. when i install/download the windows xp
service pack 2, on the last notch of download it freezes and nothing hapens,
i have waited for hours and nothing has happened

try what torgeir bakken suggested...that might work for u...gud luck.....

i tried what torgeir suggested and like u, it didnt work. did it work in the
end? the download stops at 78.20 mb out of 78.40. i have no idea why. SUM1
HELP!! thanx torgeir but it didnt work

I had the same problem and this fixed it.

Hey Torgeir, thanks a ton! I had the same problem- update screen would come
up and then nothing. I tried HP tech support and it dint work. Spent almost 2
full days on this and then read your post. It worked! It worked! thanks a ton

Hey Torgeir - I had the same problem and was struggling for 2 full days. Even
contacted HP help desk and they ran me through many many things and finally
suggested a system restore. Then came across your brief post and tried ur
solution. It worked!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks a ton!!!
