Can anybody please let me know if you find where the windows update
history files are.

They used to be in C:\Program Files\Windows Update, but they're not
since the v5 is out.

All I wanna do is wiping my windows update history.

Regards.

qjrnvray,
I still have the C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate folder on my PC but the
subdirectory V4 folder is empty. I presume that the Update Folder will be
used when SP2 is installed and running.
However, if you wish to view your S1 Update/Installation History you can
still find it on the v5 page.

The data is stored in: C:\windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore

Hi

Note that you will need to stop the "Automatic Updates" service before
you are allowed to delete this folder, here is how:

Start/Run --> services.msc

Then find "Automatic Updates" in the list, and double click on it.

If the service status is "Started", press the Stop button. You can now
delete the C:\windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore folder.

Hello,

I recommend that you rename the datastore folder rather than delete. Also,
the Iuhist.xml file (which is the history of V4 installations should still
be in this folder (Unless it was deleted):

C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate\V4

Hi

Any specific reason for why you recommend this?

Greig,
I don't see the Iuhist.xml file in the datastore folder and I haven't
deleted anything. In the datastore folder I have a Logs folder and
Datastore.edb EDB File and in the Logs folder there are a number of
edbxxx.log (text files). By the way I haven't installed SP2 yet, just
changed v4 for v5.

The DataStore folder isn't supposed to contain an Iuhist.xml file,
so what you see is correct. Iuhist.xml exists only in the old WU V4
folder (C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate\V4) and will not be updated
by WU5.

Those files in the DataStore folder contains your WU5 history, but
it is stored in a database format, so you will not be able to read
them "manually" like you could with Iuhist.xml.

But you can read out the information with e.g. a VBScript, see here
for an example on this:

Hi

No, Greig did not say that Iuhist.xml should be in DataStore
folder, he said that it should be in the folder
C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate\V4 (unless it was deleted).

I'm sorry to tell you, but as your C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate
folder is empty, your history of v4 installations is gone.

I have seen people state that the WU5 installation have deleted
their WU4 history (a.k.a. Iuhist.xml). This is maybe what have
happened to you.
