I have a user that the Windows Update V6 does not work on his SBS 2000
server. Internet Explorer just hangs when you try to go to the Windows
Update. Is there a way to repair the V6 or reinstall it? or is this another
issue all together. Thanks for any help.

We've got here just the same problem.
Also other services fail to start with a description of
"The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not
implement the service"

The other services are:
Remote Storage Media
Routing and Remote Access
System Event Notification
Remote Access Connection Manager
DCOM
Network Connections

Any help would be gratefull

Most of those have RPC as a dependent service.
Is it running too?

I'm not familiar with your OS but I suspect it could be like XP
in that it had to be upgraded to use WUv5 and subsequently WUv6.
Are you sure that the OS is at the right level to support these services?

Try posting in a newsgroup which specializes in your OS?
For your convenience I'll try cross-posting my reply in one.
It may get a response which you could see here.

SBS is a Server OS and you upgrade from WU (the old version) to MU the
new one.

look through the windowsupdate.log file for errors. What does it say?

Also is ISA 2000 installed on that SBS box?

Hey,
I got those problem fixed by taking a closer look @ the registry.
All those services were running in service group netsvcs.
Taking a closer look @ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Svchost showed me that the key netsvcs in the rightpane
indeed wasn't configured with those other services.
By simply adding them to the key I got all my problems fixed.
The problem raised during a failed SP installation.

Tx anyway for your replies.
