Windows Update whilst offline

Hi all. I have been updating my computer (XP Pro SP2) due to some
problems withthe automatic updates. The latest security update (May)
has been installed. My problem now is that even when I'm offline, the
update "shield" appear and it's downloading update: x %. How can that
be when I'm not online?
Will the updates be downloaded and install the security patch all over
again?
Please enlighten. Thank you.

Hi,
Try to temporary disable the Automatic Updates notification. Restart the
system. Enable it again. If that will not help, try to restart the
Automatic Updates service by going to services.msc
