Hi all,

I migrated to IE 6.0-SP1 from IE 5.5 three weeks ago due to a requirement of
MSN Messenger 7.0.
Upon finished IE 6.0 installation, Windows Update initialized and searched
for security patches and updates. Found and downloaded tons of patches (~30
in ~40 Mbytes). Since then has not able to open a couple pages, one is a
https:. A message "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close..." pops-up. I'm running Win98, had no problem before update.
The same pages open in another computer running WinXP and IE 6.0 SP2 though.

I checked the Windows Update history and noticed that the first 15 paths has
failed in the installation when the remaining 15 succeeded. How can I
retrieve the installation of this paths that failed? Tried several times
"Search for update" but completed with none new updates.

Any insight is very appreciated.

Thank you!

David

For help with crashes in IE6 try the newsgroup:

news:microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.bro wser

and *always* post your crash details. E.g. use that [click here] link
and capture the details under the Error Signature (dragging there
with the mouse and pressing Ctrl-c usually works).

It may have nothing to do with the version of IE apart from the
fact that some other software you are running in your Win98 system
is incompatible and interfering with IE6sp1. Malware (e.g. spyware)
are likely culprits.

Be more specific. I think I know generally what you are asking
but some examples would be useful if you want to discuss this.
